Travel to Beijing - A Light In the Face of Adversity For The Olympic Games
In the city of Beijing, China, there will be the hosts of one of the most renowned sports games known to mankind. The official Games of the XXIX Olympiad, more usually known as the Olympics, will present the summer games starting on August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008.
The Olympics commonly last slightly over two weeks. Athletes from all over the globe travel to Beijing compete versus others. Some of the most popular games held at the Olympics are basketball, swimming and track and field. In fact, track and field is one of the more dominant ones in the Games.
There will be some games such as soccer that will be held outside of the city of Beijing. But, for the most part, nearly all of the games will be held inside the stadium. The Beijing National Stadium will be the place of where the opening and closing ceremonies will be celebrated.

Several people referred to the Stadium as the "bird nest" as the structure looked a nest. The capacity of seats for this stadium is about 80,000. The original design was created with a retractable roof. However, that idea was scratched when officials started counting the safety and cost.
In July 2001 Beijing won the right for the Olympic Games. Beijing's features a logo named "Dancing Beijing". Beijing Olympics mascot are called the five Fuwa, which are standing in for the colors of five Olympic Rings. These stuff dolls are supposed to provide good luck.
The slogan for the 2008 Olympic Games is "One World, One Dream". This signifies that every people from all over the globe should be together as one. There are innumerable events in 28 sports that the athletes will take part in.
Even though other people seem to have worries about the human rights and environment in Beijing, China is trying its hardest to put on a bright face in spite of that. Even therewith, capital of Red China was granted favor and an exemption by the International Olympic Committee.
On the voting, Beijing was in the lead of the other four candidates (Paris, Istanbul, Osaka and Toronto). When it came time for the next round, since the city got the majority votings, there wasn't a need for a proximate round.
This was not the first time that Beijing competed to host the Olympic Games. In 1993, they had the lead for the first three rounds, but when it came to the next round, Sydney in Australia beat them out for the Summer Olympics in 2000.
China is trying to bring out the Olympics to make their country better known. They want visitors to know that they are able to be good hosts. Every country has issues, but some people feel that China's issues merit more of the public eye than other countries that put in their bids. The city of Beijing knows that they will have to prove them wrong.
Even with all the issues that were interesting others about Beijing, they have learned to hold on in the face of adversity. The officials are working on creating this the best Olympics ever in China.
